Last week VIP Social Events gave you pointers on using your business card effectively by staying professional and having a strategy. This week we cover what to do when you’re on the other end – after all, what on earth is one to do with all the business cards that come your way?
Thin Out the Herd
Be honest with yourself about who you are likely to contact, or whose information you are likely to pass along. If you can’t use it, trash it. Unused business cards = clutter.
Make A Note
It’s wise to go through business cards shortly after you receive them and write down a quick note or keyword about the person who game them to you. This will help you later when you are debating whether or not you need to save the card.
If Possible, Store the Info
If you don’t have a bookcase available to store every potentially valuable business card you receive, you may want to scan the business cards using a scanner with a filing program, like Neat. You’ll save space, and time when you need to search by a keyword or date!
What do you do with all the business cards you get? How do you decide what stays and what goes? Let us know!
